Chimpanzé à la statue Baoulé, c.1912

Etching on leather, signed and justified « épreuve d’artiste » (artist proof) lower left, embossed panther head stamp lower righ.
60 x 90 cm

History:
Edition of 16 numbered copies and a few rare luxury copies on basanne or parchment reserved for the artist. Our etching water is drawn on basane, i. e. a very supple, fine and flawless skin. These luxury prints, which were particularly expensive to produce, are rare and the one we are presenting is one of the only two artist proofs made on leather. The model of this etching is a work executed in 1912.
